Bill removes SSNs from licenses

A new US bill aimed at tackling “identity theft” might actually go some way towards reducing it, by removing social security numbers from government-issued documentation.

The legislation seeks to get these numbers out of the public domain.
It would prohibit the sale or display of the numbers to the general
public, and remove them from government checks and drivers’ licenses.

It would also require Social Security numbers to be taken off public
records published on the Internet.
