Bangladesh could execute UK journalists
The two UK journalists arrested on sedition charges in Bangladesh could face the death penalty, according to this report. They were arrested while trying to film a political documentary, and accused of possessing anti-government material.
Briton Zaiba Malik and Italian Bruno Sorrentino were produced Monday before a magistrate’s court, which refused a police request for more time to interrogate them and sent them to jail.They will remain in Dhaka Central Jail until a date is set for their trial or they are released.

A government statement accused the two of being “involved in clandestine activities as journalists with an apparent and malicious intent of portraying Bangladesh as an Islamic fanatical country.”
The charges against them can carry the death penalty.
